On Sunday Matt, Owen, Christine and I traveled to Elgin to meet my parents, David and Katie to cut down the Slaughter Family Christmas tree. We have been doing this for as long as I can remember (even before Katie was a thought!)
On the hay ride
When you arrive at the tree farm you can look at the animals, go through the fun maze, or load up on the trailer for a hay ride out to the Christmas trees. We always love the hay ride and throwing hay at one another...although we didn't do that this year, the hay was a little wet!
Standing in front of our tree*After Matt cut it down
After the hay ride you grab a saw and start your search for that perfect Christmas Tree. It is our family tradition to find a Tree with a pine cone and we can not pick a tree without one. The kids (me, Christine, David and Katie) take turns picking out the tree. Although, we never remember who picked the tree out last! It is always an argument. This year I am sure was supposed to be my year, but everyone decided that I didn't get to choose because I would be picking my own tree. I do have to say that it would have been a lot of pressure to choose two trees this year.
When you find your perfect tree you grab the saw and cut it down. (The search does take forever.) Then you load back up on the trailer, take it to get wrapped up and pay for your tree before loading it on your car.

Sounds like a lot of fun!! Did you love the Baby Bjorn?!
