Two Months

It is hard to believe that just a short two months ago Owen was born. It is amazing how quickly he has stolen our hearts and we have wrapped our lives in him. It has been such a joy to watch the new things that he does everyday.
This month we have:
  • gone to his first (of many) Katy Tiger Football Game
  • celebrated our first Christmas as a family
  • made our first overnight trip to Austin
  • made our first trip to Rockwall to visit Granny, Grandmommy,
  • and lots of Aunts and Uncles
  • Smiled A LOT
  • Started to laugh
  • had our first play date and spent the night with Jennifer, Kevin, Graham and Laurel
  • traveled to Elgin to cut down a Christmas Tree
  • Got our first shots (with momma and daddy present at least)
  • gone on numerous shopping trips to the mall
  • watched Ross perform in his Christmas musical
AND as promised here are a few Christmas Pics! (while downloading the pictures I realized I may have videoed more than took pics!)

Owen's First Christmas

Katy vs Abilene 17 - 28

It is a sad day in Katy today...we lost the state game yesterday. BUT, Owen did get to go to his first football game...make that his first KATY TIGER football game.

My entire family traveled to San Antonio to go to the game. Christine, Patrick, Matt, Owen and I met my parents, Katie, David, David's girlfriend Elisabeth, and my cousin Kara at the Alamo dome. It was an adventure to say the least.

not a happy baby

Owen at first did not enjoy the loud cheering of the fans, but at half time he calmed down with a bottle, fell asleep and enjoyed the rest of the game. We did miss the end of the game due to a severe blowout of the diaper!

Here are a few pics of Owen at the game. (We weren't smart enough to get a family picture with all of us!)
Beware of the blowout picture.

A Reason to Smile

This morning I am giving you two reasons to smile.
1. My Sweet Boy Owen is starting to laugh, smile, and talk more and more each day especially in the morning. This morning I got a video of him doing just that! Excuse the poor videomanship. There is only so much you can do with a cell phone video camera. (A Flip video camera is on the top of my wish list!)
2. My friend Jennifer's Sweet Girl Laurel is in a photo contest and the picture is to die for! Check out Jennifer's blog for instructions on how to vote for Laurel!
You have until Friday to vote!

O Christmas Tree

On Sunday Matt, Owen, Christine and I traveled to Elgin to meet my parents, David and Katie to cut down the Slaughter Family Christmas tree. We have been doing this for as long as I can remember (even before Katie was a thought!)

On the hay ride

When you arrive at the tree farm you can look at the animals, go through the fun maze, or load up on the trailer for a hay ride out to the Christmas trees. We always love the hay ride and throwing hay at one another...although we didn't do that this year, the hay was a little wet!

Standing in front of our tree*After Matt cut it down

After the hay ride you grab a saw and start your search for that perfect Christmas Tree. It is our family tradition to find a Tree with a pine cone and we can not pick a tree without one. The kids (me, Christine, David and Katie) take turns picking out the tree. Although, we never remember who picked the tree out last! It is always an argument. This year I am sure was supposed to be my year, but everyone decided that I didn't get to choose because I would be picking my own tree. I do have to say that it would have been a lot of pressure to choose two trees this year.

Paying for our trees

Taking our tree to the car*Loading the tree on the car

When you find your perfect tree you grab the saw and cut it down. (The search does take forever.) Then you load back up on the trailer, take it to get wrapped up and pay for your tree before loading it on your car.

We had so much fun this year picking out a tree...for my parents and for Matt, Owen and myself. Next year will be so much fun when Owen is running around the tree farm!

SNOW DAY!

Happy Snow Day!

We woke up this morning (late morning about 10:00, after all the early morning feedings) to find it snowing outside!
Enjoy the pics and video of the snow!

AND in honor of snow day Owen and I have decided to read two books..."Welcome Winter" and "How to Build a Snowman". I just wish Owen was old enough to actually go outside and build a snowman!

The Perfect Mix

*me at birth*Owen*Matt

Recently we have been looking at baby pictures of Matt and myself trying to figure out what characteristics Owen has of both of us. Take a look and compare. He really is the "Perfect Mix" of the two of us!

One Month

I know we are a couple of days late, but our internet hasn't been working...

It's hard to believe that Owen is already one month old. We have already celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving and we are gearing up to celebrate Christmas. Matt and I have enjoyed having our little guy around and we are all adjusting to one another.
During the last month we have....
  • been to the doctor several times
  • seen lots of visitors
  • gone to the City of Katy Christmas Tree lighting
  • Seen Santa and had our picture taken with Santa
  • taken a few walks around the neighborhood
  • met new friends
  • had our first real bath
  • gone on a few shopping trips (and survived them all!)
  • and outgrown our newborn diapers!

My has time flown by! Here are a few pictures that capture the last month...
